Welcome to the PA Board!!

You came to the right place for positive words and prayers. We are here for you whenever you need us! Since you have been through this before you kind of know what to expect. I had RNY in June 2009 and it is the BEST thing I have done for myself. I also was scared, but I knew it was something I had to do.

Where are you having your surgery done? I am sure that they will take good care of you no matter where you go.

Good luck to you and keep us updated on how you are doing....

Welcome!

I'm just wondering why the banding didn't work?

But you can do it.... so hang in there!

Hi there - I'm Kathy - welcome to the PA Boards! Wow - gastric banding 21 years ago? I didn't even know they did it that long ago. I had RNY in 2008 and am thrilled with my results. You found an amazing support site here - there is a wealth of information from everyone on this board, as well as encouragement, support and prayers when needed.

Wish you all the best on your surgery on the 18th - trust me, we were ALL scared - it's surgery - and surgery is scary no matter what. What area of PA are you in and where are you having your surgery? Chances are someone on here had theirs at the same place or with the same surgeon and can offer advice?

Please keep us posted and let us know how you're doing.

I am from springfield area, pa having surgery at Crozer hospital. The banding was one of the first at the University of Penn they weren't too perfected and my band has migrated into the lumen of my stomach causing problems so that needs to come out.  Dr Neil Marymor is doing my revision surgery. Thank you for the warm welcome

Dr Marymor is an excellent surgeon - he used to be at Barix, where I had my surgery, but I attend the Crozer post-op support group meetings at Brinton Lake and know about Dr Katz and his team - great people - have you met Pat? She's awesome! You're in excellent hands, and maybe we'll meet in person some day at one of the meetings. I live in Garnet Valley so I'm not too far from you.

Sounds like the band has to come out - I'm sorry to hear about that, but hopefully it won't complicate your surgery.

As the others have said, we were all scared before our surgery!  But I'm glad I did it---best thing I've done for myself!!!  You're in great hands with Dr. Marymour---lots of his patients are on here and they love him!!!

Good luck!!!  We're here for whenever you need us---or even if you don't need us and just want to check in!

Welcome and I can tell you there are many who know of Dr. Marymor, as he was at one time affiliated with the place many of us had our surgery, Barix Clinics in Langhorne.  He is a well skilled surgeon and I am sure he will do his part and then it will be your turn to do yours, following his guidelines will guarantee you the results you seek.

Wishing you the very best outcome and looking forward to seeing your post-operative posts sharing your experiences as you begin your journey towards healthier and hopefully happier living.

Also, you might, if not already doing so, consider support group attendance, as it will aid you along the way.  There are many, so watch the boards and attend them as you can.

Welcome to the PA board! We have such a great community here - you will surely get the support you need!

The fears are normal, as you well know, but you have chosen an excellent surgeon. When you get into the world of RNY, please DO consider attending a good support group as often as you can. This is a long journey and it is NOT a solo flight!

Hello and welcome,

This is a wonderful group to come to for questions, advise, vent, whatever you need.  We're all here for you.  I had my surgery with Dr. Katz at the end of July.  There is a support group meeting tomorrow at 7pm if your interested.  I'll be there along with my bff who had her surgery in May.

No worries! Your in good hands.

Look forward to meeting you soon.
